"Because the final gift we can give them is the same gift they gave us every day of their lives: love without fear, and peace without pain." —Dr. Aubrey

Pet Loss Support & Grief Resources
Grief is a reflection of love. The bond you shared with your companion was profound, and saying goodbye can leave an ache that feels overwhelming. Please know that your grief is valid, and you do not have to walk through it alone. Many families find comfort in speaking with others who understand the depth of the human-animal bond. The following trusted organizations offer compassionate support, guidance, and a listening heart.

A Gentle Reminder... Grief has no timeline and there is no right way to mourn. The depth of your grief reflects the depth of your love. Be patient with yourself. Speak their name. Share their stories. Peruse pictures and videos. Understand that it is OK to laugh. It is OK to cry. Honor the bond you will always carry.
Common Questions & Guidance
You can also visit our What To Expect page for detailed information about your upcoming visit
Observing your pet's quality of life is the most compassionate way to decide. We suggest tracking 'good days' versus 'bad days' and noting if they still enjoy their favorite activities, remain mobile, and can eat and drink comfortably.
We suggest using the Beloved Bond Quality of Life Checklist to regularly re-assess your pet's condition, as this can be something that can change on a day-to-day basis.
How do I know when it's the right time to say goodbye?
How can I prepare my home for the visit?
Choose a peaceful setting where your pet feels safest—their favorite bed, a sunny patio, or a quiet corner of the living room. Dim lights, soft music, and having loved ones nearby can help create the gentle environment they deserve. Remember that if your pet is still eating, this is a perfect time to spoil with with whatever they want: hamburger, steak, ice cream, and even chocolate are wonderful treats on your angel's last day.
Can our other family pets be present during the process?
Absolutely, as long as they are comfortable with unfamiliar people. Allowing other household pets to be present, or at least witness the passing, often helps them understand the loss and can assist in their own grieving process. If you have a nervous or fearful pet, it may be best for them to be contained in a different room.
What measures are taken to ensure my pet is comfortable?
We prioritize a gentle, pain-free experience. The process begins with a sedative that allows your pet to fall into a deep, peaceful sleep, much like a natural slumber, before the final medication is lovingly administered. Please see our What To Expect page for more information to help you feel at ease.
What are the options for aftercare and memorials?
We offer guidance on memorializing your pet’s unique bond, including private cremation or communal options. If you choose, we can lovingly transport your pet for cremation and ensure their remains are handled with the highest dignity. You will also receive one pawprint impression/picture frame combination, a lock of fur in a small frame memorial, along with nose and paw ink prints at your appointment. If you are interested in additional pawprints or different types of memorials, please ask us about them prior to your appointment.
Will I have time to spend with my pet after they pass?
Yes, you can have as much time as you need to sit with your pet afterward. We never rush these sacred moments and want you to feel fully supported while you say your final goodbye in peace.
Can I handle my own aftercare?
Absolutely. You are free to use any crematory service you would like, with the understanding that you will be responsible for transporting your pet to the crematorium of your choice. You may also choose to bury your pet at home.
If I can't afford private cremation, are there other options?
Yes, and we can help you navigate these options. Communal cremation is a more affordable option if it is not meaningful to you that you have physical ashes. If you have a pet under 15 pounds, you can choose a "semi-private" option with our crematory partner, which means that your pet is cremated in the same chamber as another small pet, with a divider between them. This option ranges from $170 - $245, depending on whether you prefer a decorative urn or a temporary urn. Providing your own urn can be a very cost-effective option and there are many beautiful urns online from various vendors. You are also welcome to check prices with different crematory providers.
Do you provide aquamation?
Our crematory partner does not directly provide aquamation services, but there is an aquamation provider in Arlington: Peaceful Pets DFW. If this is an option you are interested in, we can help you with your pet's peaceful passing and then you can transport your angel to Peaceful Pets.
